Configuring Security Policy
Using the security policy, you can configure credential settings and user login settings, which is essential for mirroring your company's security settings. With user login settings, you can control user activity, and with credential settings, you can control usernames and passwords.

Select Access Menu and then select Security | Security Policy.

Modify the contents under the following tabs:

User Login Settings Tab
Under the User Login Settings tab, you can enable deactivation options based on length of inactivity or unsuccessful login attempts. Additionally, you may enable an automatic logout if the user is idle for a specified duration of time.
- To automatically deactivate an unused account, select Deactivate account if not logged in for (days) and then select the desired number of days.
- To automatically logout an idle user, select Logout the user if idle for and then select the desired interval.
- To automatically deactivate an account with multiple unsuccessful login attempts, select Deactivate account if unsuccessful login exceeds and then select the desired number of unsuccessful login attempts.

To enable fast switching, which improves the log in procedure by only requiring the user's password, activate the Fast user switching slider.
To disable fast switching, deactivate the Fast user switching slider.

Credential Settings Tab
Under the Credential Settings tab, you can configure password and username settings, including minimum length, password expiration, and allowing email as username.

In the Password section, set the password settings, as follows:
- In the Minimum password length (Character) data field, type the minimum number of characters for all Enact passwords.
- To configure passwords to automatically expire, select Password expires after (days) and then select the desired number of days.
- To configure passwords to require upper and lower case characters, select Require both upper and lower case characters.
- To prevent users from recycling passwords, select Prohibit recycling of passwords for (days) and then select the desired number of days between reuse.
- To configure passwords to require alpha and numeric characters, select Require both alpha and numeric characters.

To configure passwords to require at least one special character, select Require at least 1 special character.
Please note that Enact does not allow you to use a period (.) as a special character.

In the Username section, set the username settings, as follows:
- In the Minimum username length (Character) data field, type the minimum number of characters for all Enact usernames.

To configure usernames to require an email address, select Require Email for all users.
If Require Email for all users is grayed out and inactive, an active Enact user does not have an email address and has the Opt out email setting selected. To activate Require Email for all users, you must deselect the Opt out email setting and provide an email address for all active users. For more information, please see Editing Users.
