Upgrading Services

Upgrade Considerations

Prior to starting any of the upgrade, you must consider the following:

  1. When upgrading an existing installation, be aware that the installer will stop and restart all InfinityQS services. Ensure that you have the services accounts and passwords available.
  2. In addition, the ProFicient Services installer will restart the server or workstation at the end of the installation.

Upgrade Checklist

To successfully upgrade, you must perform the following activities in the correct order:

  • System Downtime
  • System Requirements Reference Sheet
  • Change History Documents
  • Export Services Configurations
  • Close Background Programs and Stop InfinityQS Services
  • Run New ProFicient Services Installer

Installation Procedure

Preparing for Upgrade

  1. Schedule an appropriate amount of downtime for the upgrade.
  2. Read System Requirements (Services) to ensure that the computer can run the ProFicient services.
  3. Read the Change History document for the new Services (DMS, DCS, EIS, and Mail Service), which are available on the Enact Services Downloads website (https://www.infinityqs.com/support/enact/enact-services).
  4. For DMS and DCS, export all configurations as follows:

    • DMS

      • In the DMS Browser menu bar, click File | Export.
      • In the Save As dialog box, browse to the desired file destination, and then click the Save button. The DMS Browser saves the DMS providers as a single XML file (by default, DMSProviders_Config.xml).

    • DCS

      • In the DCS Browser menu bar, click File | Export.
      • In the Save As dialog box, browse to the desired file destination, and then click the Save button. The DCS Browser saves the data collectors as a single XML file (by default, DCSConfiguration.xml).

By exporting the DMS providers and the DCS data collectors, you will create a backup of these configurations. After the upgrade, you will not need to later import them, as the upgrade installer automatically uses the existing configurations.

  5. On the installation computer, close all active programs, including services and background tasks, such as antivirus applications.

You must stop the InfinityQS Services also, including InfinityQS Message Service, InfinityQS DMS Service, InfinityQS Data Collection Service, InfinityQS Enterprise Integration Service, and InfinityQS Mail Service.

Running Services Installer

  1. On the computer, log in as system administrator.
  2. In your web browser, browse to the Enact Services Downloads website (https://www.infinityqs.com/support/enact/enact-services). If necessary, type your User name and Password, and then click the Sign In button.

Please submit a case to InfinityQS Technical Support for the username and password to access the latest ProFicient installer.

  3. Click the Enact Services x.xxx.xxxx link and download the Services installer.
  4. Double click the Services installer.

If the Microsoft Defender SmartScreen opens, click the More Info link, and then click the Run Anyway button. For more information, please see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security/threat-protection/microsoft-defender-smartscreen/microsoft-defender-smartscreen-overview.

  5. In the language drop-down list, click the desired language, and then click the OK button.

If the Microsoft .NET Framework is missing, the installer identifies the required version and then closes.

  6. In the Update screen, click the Next button.

  7. In the finish screen, click the Finish button.

If the installer prompts you to restart the computer, restart the computer now.

  8. On the installation computer, ensure that users have full privileges to the installation directory (by default, C:\Program Files (x86)\InfinityQS International\ProFicient\Applications).
