Pausing Timed Data Collections
The instructions below apply to both timed data collections and timed checklists.
Using process states, you can pause a timed data collection for up to 24 hours. To pause a timer, you must select a Pause process state type for a process associated with a Due or Late timed data collection (but not during an Early Reminder) that is currently counting down. For up to 24 hours, Enact stops the counter and identifies the data collection in the Data Collection tile as paused.
For more information about process states, please see Process States.
-
After pausing for 24 hours, Enact marks the timed data collection as Missed and sets the process state to Stop.
-
While paused, you will not be able to open the data collection from the Data Collection tile, and you will not be able to satisfy the timer requirement for the data collection.
-
If you don't want to use the timer pausing functionality, you must avoid creating Pause process state types. If you have already created Pause process state types, you must deactivate those process state types.
Remember that there is a difference between the process state name and the process state type. The process state name is the unique identifier for the process state that you set. The process state type determines how the process state will behave within Enact.
To pause or unpause a timed data collection, do the following:
-
To pause the timed data collection, set the process state of the associated process to a Pause process state type.
-
To unpause the timed data collection, set the process state of the associated process to the previous process state name before you paused the process.
-
Example 1
If the selected process state name was Standard Shift (process state type Run), and you paused by setting the process state name to Line Hold (process state type Pause), you can only unpause by selecting the Standard Shift process state name again.
-
Example 2
If the paused process was originally set to Standard Shift (process state type Run), you cannot unpause the process by setting the process state name to Enhanced Shift (process state type Run). You must select the same process state name, and not a different process state name with a matching process state type.
