Creating Enact Writer
The Enact Writer writes subgroup data to Enact.
When submitting subgroups without a part or a lot, the Enact Writer uses existing production assignments to determine the part and lot that correspond to the process. This will only work if there is one production assignment for the process. If there are zero production assignments or two or more production assignments, the Enact Writer ignores the subgroups.
When submitting subgroups for a process in an idle state (that is, Process State Type = "Idle"), the Enact Writer ignores the subgroups. If the process is in any other state (for example, Startup or Shutdown), the Enact Writer will store the subgroups, since these process state types could be for active startup and shutdown procedures with associated checks. If you consider the process to be fully paused or shut down and do not expect to receive data, you should set the process to an idle state.

Example
After EIS dispatches the IDEF file, the Enact Writer converts the incoming IDEF data to subgroups and routes them to Enact.
When routing data, the Enact Writer has the following constraints:
- Maximum Number of Measurement Values: 200
- Maximum Unique Feature Names: 200
If a single subgroup exceeds 200 features or 200 values, EIS creates an event log entry indicating the limitation boundary. EIS will attempt to send the data, though Enact may discard it.

Operating Details
In a functional Routing Configuration, you must have both the origin (EIS Reader) and the destination (Enact Writer).
When adding or modifying an Enact Writer, the Enact Writer dialog box opens.
-
To configure the Enact Writer, do the following:
- In the read-only Base Path field, examine the fully qualified address for Enact.
-
In the Override Subgroup Data section, you can click the checkboxes of desired hierarchy levels and type the override values:
- Company. Type the company in your Enact system. For example, if the Company level process in your Enact system is Cheery Chips, type Cheery Chips.
- Division. Type the desired division in your Enact system. For example, if the desired Division level process in your Enact system is Chips Division, type Chips Division.
- Region. Type the desired region in your Enact system. For example, if the desired Region level process in your Enact system is North America Region, type North America Region.
- Site. Type the desired site in your Enact system. For example, if the desired Site level process in your Enact system is Fairfax, type Fairfax.
- Department. Type the desired department in your Enact system. For example, if the desired Department level process in your Enact system is Production, type Production.
You must provide names for existing top-level processes.
- Click the OK button.
